Background to the learningpoint.ie project

In 2004/2005, The Wheel undertook research into training needs for the Community and Voluntary Sector in Ireland. This study was the first of its kind in Ireland and the main findings and recommendations that emerged from the research paved the way for Sector Skills.

Sector Skills is a suite of new programmes that aim to strengthen community and voluntary organisations' ability to access information on, and participate in, training courses in a more effective way.

The Sector Skills initiative involves three linked elements: learningpoint.ie - this website, Training Links - a Training Networks Programme and Stronger Leaders - a Leadership Development Programme.

Go to The Wheel's website if you wish to find out more about Sector Skills.

One of the findings of the Sector Skills research was that there is no central resource for training supports and information in the Community and Voluntary Sector. This finding paved the way for the learningpoint.ie project.
