The Development Training & Learning @ Kimmage (Dtalk) Programme was formally launched in March 2005. It aims to promote a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the Irish international development sector.

About us
About us and our training programmes
The Programme will ensure that development workers and volunteers about to undertake work in Southern countries are adequately trained and prepared for the challenges and complexities of their future roles. The Programme will also provide professional development opportunities for head office and country based staff of NGOs and missionary organisations and will be involved in preparing election observers for overseas election missions.
Dtalk provides a wide range of short-term courses (1-4 days in duration) covering an extensive range of topics. These topics cover everything from Initial Preparation for Working in the South to Understanding HIV and Community Responses to all aspects of management (Proposal Writing, Logical Framework Analysis, Monitoring and Evaluation and Financial Management) to Sustainable Livelihoods, Advocacy, Creative Facilitation, International Humanitarian Law, etc.
Dtalk also provides Tailor-made courses for Irish-based and field-based staff from NGO and missionary organisations as well as Irish Aid staff. Please visit Dtalk’s website at www.dtalk.ie to learn more about tailor made courses.
Attendance at short training courses, at subsidised rates, are open, for example, to the following categories:
- Staff, volunteers and interns of Irish registered development agencies based in Ireland and overseas
- Staff of Development Cooperation Ireland
- Development workers selected by for both short term and long term assignments overseas
- Staff working in Development Education in Ireland
- Students of Development Study Programmes in Ireland
- Individuals working in an advisory capacity within the Sector in Ireland
- Staff of European overseas development agencies with registered charitable status in their country
If you do not meet the eligibility criteria you may still be able to attend the course but may be required to pay the full course fee.
